Inhaling high scalability

I have been inhaling (figuratively of course) the posts on the High Scalability weblog. It is a great place to learn how to deal with scalability issues and how various people have solved the issues that challenged them.

What is interesting are the different ways on which people have dealt with the issues, but two themes keep coming back, these being data sharding/segmenting and data replication/redundancy.

I still have a few more posts to read, and there is one which merits some testing, which I will do later.
